Good Morning, Joplin. America may be turning 250 on July 4 but that’s nothing. A guy named Jake Perry once owned a cat named Creme Puff that lived to be 38 years and 3 days old. His secret? Every two days he’d give Creme Puff some red wine. The cat also drank coffee (with cream).

Let’s get to it.

P.S. If you find something useful in today’s Jive, please share it with someone who becomes a die-hard soccer fan every four years but forgets the sport exists in between.

THE DIGEST
🎆 Joplin Shares Fireworks Safety Reminders Ahead of July 4
Fireworks may only be sold and used July 1–4 within city limits

As Independence Day approaches, the Joplin Fire Department is reminding residents to celebrate safely and follow the City's fireworks regulations. Fireworks may be sold within Joplin city limits from Wednesday, July 1, through Saturday, July 4, and may only be discharged between noon and 11:00 p.m. on those days. Pop bottle rockets and Chinese lanterns remain prohibited within the city.
Fire officials encourage parents to closely supervise children, keep a water source nearby when using fireworks, and thoroughly soak used fireworks before disposing of them to help prevent fires. Residents are also advised not to throw used fireworks directly into trash containers or store them in garages. For those looking to enjoy a professional display, the City of Joplin's free Independence Day celebration will be held at Missouri Southern State University's Fred G. Hughes Stadium, with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. and the fireworks show beginning around 9:45 p.m.

🩸 Give Blood This Summer and Earn Special Donor Rewards

The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is encouraging residents to roll up their sleeves this summer as hospitals across the region continue to need blood donations. Throughout July and August, anyone who donates blood at a CBCO donor center or mobile blood drive will receive a premium velour beach towel and be entered for a chance to win a $10,000 dream vacation. The organization says summer is one of the most challenging times to maintain an adequate blood supply as vacations and school breaks often lead to fewer donations. Click here for more information.
To kick off the campaign, CBCO will host its annual Pint for a Pint blood drive on Thursday, July 2, at all four donor centers, including the Joplin location at 2318 E. 32nd Street, which will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Donors on July 2 will also receive a limited-edition patriotic pint glass and a voucher for a pint of Culver's frozen custard while supplies last. Appointments are encouraged and can be scheduled online or by calling 417-227-5006.
LOCAL BUSINESS
SPONSORED BY
💼 Local Business Owners
I've been working on a new sponsorship option for JOMO Jive, and I'm looking for just four local businesses to help me test it.
The goal is to give businesses consistent exposure over multiple editions while maintaining what makes JOMO Jive sponsorships effective: one Edition Sponsor per newsletter and industry exclusivity throughout the campaign.
If you've been curious about advertising in JOMO Jive but weren't sure where to start, this is a great opportunity.
I'm keeping the pilot intentionally small, so once the four spots are filled, applications will close.
Interested? Just reply to this email and I'll send you the details.

🛍️ Red, White, Sip & Shop in Downtown Webb City
Saturday, June 27 | 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM | Main Street, Webb City

Downtown Webb City will be filled with shopping, food, and family fun during the annual Red, White, Sip & Shop event on Saturday, June 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hosted by the Downtown Webb City Alliance and powered by Zimmer Marketing, the event transforms Main Street along historic Route 66 into a walkable marketplace featuring more than 200 boutiques, vendors, food trucks, and local small businesses.
In addition to shopping, visitors can enjoy a Kids Zone with bounce houses, family-friendly activities, sweet treats, and plenty of food and drinks throughout the day. The event also serves a greater purpose by raising funds for Honor Flight of the Ozarks, helping provide veterans with trips to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials dedicated to their service. Organizers encourage attendees to wear their red, white, and blue and spend the day supporting local businesses and a meaningful cause.
