Derby Hats & Horsepower - An Afternoon at the Races 🏇 

Grab your bow ties and big hats—An Afternoon at the Races is headed to The Sterling Event Center on Saturday, May 3, from 2 to 6 PM, and it’s all in support of a great local cause—The Alliance of SWMO.

The Alliance of SWMO brings people together to tackle tough issues facing kids and families in Southwest Missouri. Focused on safety, well-being, and real solutions, they do whatever it takes to help the community thrive.

This Kentucky Derby-themed fundraiser will feature:

• 🐎 Live race excitement (first race at 2:30 PM)

• 🍽️ Hors d’oeuvres & Mint Julip bar

• 🎶 Live entertainment

• 🎟️ Horse betting (with “Derby” money) and more!

Derby attire is encouraged—because why not dress up while doing good? All ages welcome (under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian). Free parking on site.

Keller Williams’ RED Day Returns May 8 with Community Service + Cookout for a Cause 🌭 

Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 8—it’s RED Day! Each year on the second Thursday of May, Keller Williams Realty steps away from real estate for a day of service, giving back to the communities they live and work in. This year, they’re teaming up with two great local organizations: the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Missouri and ArtCentral in Carthage.

KW volunteers will be rolling up their sleeves to help with cleaning, repairs, and other hands-on projects—all part of their mission to make a lasting difference. And yes… the legendary Cookout for a Cause is back! Get ready for grilled burgers and hot dogs done right.

Cowtown Days Rolls into Baxter Springs 🐮 

It’s time to kick up some dust—Cowtown Days is back in Baxter Springs on May 2–3, and it’s loaded with hometown flavor and small-town fun done big. With over 100 vendors, a food truck lineup that could feed an army, contests, live music, and a can’t-miss Car, Truck, & Bike Show, there’s something for everyone.

Friday, May 2 (6–9 PM):
It’s Free Hotdog Friday! Grab dinner for the whole crew, catch the Cowtown Idol talent showdown, and test your stomach strength in the Hotdog Eating Contest (cash prizes included).

Saturday, May 3 (10 AM–6 PM):
Start the day with free breakfast, cruise in for the Car, Truck, & Bike Show, and stay for pie-eating, square dancing, line dancing lessons, and live music by Full Throttle and Tucker Graves.

🚗 Car, Truck, & Bike Show Details:

• 📍 210 W. 10th St., Baxter Springs

• 🕙 10 AM–5 PM, with awards at 5 PM

• 💵 $20 registration fee

• 🏁 First 50 entries get a dash plaque
