Is Your New Years Resolution Still Going Strong?
TOGETHER WITH

Good Morning, Joplin. On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, let’s honor his dream by striving to make Joplin a kinder, more united community—starting with letting just one idiot person merge in traffic.
In today’s JOMO Jive:
Presidential Inauguration
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
MOSO Trivia Night
Joplin Parks and Rec Sports Registration
Today’s Jive goes a little outside Joplin’s jurisdiction with National news. Let’s get to it.

Is it worth it to bundle your insurance policies? Nathan says, “Bundling home and auto insurance with American Family can save an average of 20-30% on both policies.” Not only can moving all your insurance coverages under one roof save you money on your premiums, it also simplifies the insurance process.
What’s even greater is that it’s no problem if your homeowners insurance is paid through escrow. American Family can still switch everything over for you!
To see how much Nathan and American Family can save you, get a quote now or stop by 2020 E 7th Street, Joplin, MO 64801.

THE DIGEST
Presidential Inauguration
President Trump will be sworn in for a second term today. The ceremony is expected to feature a mix of tradition and Trump’s signature flair, with speeches highlighting his priorities for the upcoming term. We just want to know if Trump will have McDonalds for the inaugural luncheon.
Inauguration Day ceremonies will air on major news networks including ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, CSPAN and Fox News. You can also watch USA Today’s YouTube livestream here. The Swearing-In Ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM CST.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day—a federal holiday honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader in the Civil Rights Movement. It celebrates his commitment to equality, justice, and nonviolent activism in the fight against racial discrimination. The day encourages reflection, community service, and a renowned dedication to carrying forward his vision of a more inclusive society.
Joplin city offices and the MAPS system will be closed. But don’t worry, residential trash and curbside recycling services will not change due to this closing, and Monday pick-ups should be completed today as normally scheduled.
The Joplin City Council’s regularly scheduled third Monday meeting will also be held on Tuesday, January 21st. The rescheduled meeting will begin at 6:00 PM and be held in the Council Chambers on the 5th floor of City Hall at 602 S Main, Joplin, MO 64801.
MSSU is hosting their 25th Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration inside the Ron Richard Athletic Center from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM tonight.

KC Chiefs Playoff Game
While critics often call them the “Kansas City Refs,” the Chiefs proved they’re more than just penalty beneficiaries with a hard-fought playoff win. They defeated the Houston Texans 27-20, with Patrick Mahomes leading a clutch fourth-quarter drive. The victory sets them up for their seventh straight AFC Championship appearance.
With the divisional round win, they will play against the Buffalo Bills at home next Sunday at 5:30 PM. In the NFC, the Washington Commanders travel to Philadelphia to face off against the Eagles at 2:00 PM.

Kansas City Chief’s Patrick Mahomes makes a falling touchdown pass to Travis Kelce.
