It’s Very Cold…

With high temperatures barely exceeding freezing and low temps approaching single digits, we thought these reminders might be helpful.

  • If you see water bubbling out of the street, it could be a water main break. Report immediately to:
    - City of Joplin: 417-624-0820

  • Warming centers are open around town

  • Wearing layers is the key to warmth

  • Florida has no state income tax

Spire Offers Programs to Help Manage Winter Bills

With temperatures bottoming out this week, Spire reminds us that they offer multiple programs for customers struggling to pay their bills. Programs include spreading the balance of your bill over 3 to 12 months, as well as budget billing (the exact same amount every month).

Anyone who is struggling is also encouraged to call 211. Spire also says that if you don’t qualify for one program, go ahead and apply for another! Customers can qualify for some, but not others. You can find out more information on Spire’s website.

Warming Centers

Below are a few of the warming centers in Joplin. For a more extensive list in the surrounding area, click here.

  • Souls Harbor - 817 Main St - If temp is 32 or below, the overflow shelter is available 7:30 PM to 5:30 AM

  • Watered Gardens - 531 S Kentucky - If temp is 20 or below, the overflow shelter is available overnight

  • Salvation Army - 320 E 8th - When temps are 32 or below, warming center is open Mon-Thurs from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Fri 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. If temps fall below 20, warming center is open 7 days a week, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

  • Joplin Public Library - 1901 E 20th - Open during business hours

Mi Torito Opens New Webb City Location

The popular Mexican restaurant that started in Galena, KS and expanded to Carl Junction, MO has grown once again! Check out their new location at 708 W 4th St, Webb City, MO 64870. Doors are officially open and they will have a grand opening this Saturday, 1/25 at 7:00 PM.
