The Kansas City Chiefs have done it again! After a thrilling 32-29 victory over the Buffalo Bills, the Chiefs are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch from 2 years ago. While the Chiefs did finally have to score more than 30 points in a game this season to beat Josh Allen, we still don’t understand why anyone would ACTUALLY think the Bills would win against the Chiefs in a playoff game…

Joplin Installs First Safe Haven Baby Box at Fire Station 7

Our city’s first Safe Haven Baby Box will be blessed and placed tomorrow, January 28th at 12:00 PM at Fire Station 7 (6720 E 30th Street). The Baby Box provides a safe, anonymous option for parents in crisis to surrender infants, representing a significant step in preventing abandonment. This is the sixth Baby Box in Missouri and the 310th nationwide.

Historic Redings Mill Pool For Sale

The old Redings Mill Pool, located at 101 Mark Twain Drive, was listed for sale last week for $150,000 on Charles Burt Realtors. If you’re from Joplin and over 40, chances are you have a fond memory of this place. While the Spanish-style pavilion and buildings are still in tact, most of the property needs some TLC (and I’m not talking about chasing waterfalls). All we know is someone needs purchase this property and turn it into something spectacular! Just don’t forget flood insurance…

Four States Finest Viewer Choice Awards

Every year KOAM hosts their Four States Finest viewer choice awards. Categories include eating & drinking, arts & entertainment, health & fitness, services and shopping. Dover Hill Bike Track

Residents have wanted a bike park in Joplin for a number of years, and the City has been working to bring this unique attraction and park since 2020. At a recent Council meeting, members awarded the construction contract for the Dover Outdoor Recreation Area to Crossland Construction Company. Some of the amenities included are a Bicycle Single Track, BMX Pump Track, Children’s Bicycle Playground, and Skills Features and Bridges. The bike park is expected to open in late 2025/early 2026.

JATSO Seeking Public Comments

The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) is seeking a 45-day public comment period for the update of the Public Participation Plan (PPP). JATSO updates its PPP periodically, as needed. JATSO’s proposed 2025 PPP update can be viewed on their website here. The public commend period for this amendment concludes at 5:00 PM on Friday, March 7th. Comments on the proposed PPP can be submitted to Robert Lolley by phone at 417-624-0820 ext 1514 or by email at [email protected].
