THE DIGEST

Super Bowl LIX
If you have any other plans this Sunday at 5:30 PM, I’m sorry. For those of you who are watching the game, prepare yourselves for history. With a mostly-healthy roster, the leaked NFL scripts, and Taylor Swift on our side, Kansas City is destined to bring home the Lombardi Trophy and the first ever Super Bowl 3-peat.

Who Will Win Super Bowl LIX? |
Fake Spring Comes to an End
Just as the air was starting to get warmer and the ground was beginning to dry out, Mother Nature’s punchline to her cruel joke hits us right in the gut. I don’t know about you, but I was really looking forward to not having to wipe my dogs’ paws off with a towel every time I let them back inside from going potty… Enjoy today and tomorrow’s weather while you can, because next week they’re calling for snow.
Pup Offering Nail Trim and Treat Pop-Up
Pup is back at it with their Nail Trim & Treat pop-up clinic. Your best friend's health and wellness depends on keeping a regular schedule for their nails. Don’t let the “click-clack” of your dogs nails on your hard floors drive you to the point of insanity. Take care of your dogs and your state of mind!

“Mr. Hatch leads a predictable and dreary life. One Valentine’s Day, he unexpectedly receives a heart-shaped package with an anonymous note that whispers, “somebody loves you,” and everything changes. This heartwarming puppet play examines the effect that kindness can have on a lonely existence.”

MSSU Signs 53 Recruits on National Signing Day
The Missouri Southern football team, led by Coach Atiba Bradley, has signed 53 new players for the 2025 season. This group includes 38 high school athletes and 15 transfers. MOSO hasn’t had a winning season since 2013, so I’d say we’re due… Check out all the signees here.
Joplin Regional Alliance for Health’s Growth Initiative
The JRAH is working on big plans to improve our healthcare. They’re creating programs to train new healthcare workers, upgrading facilities, and promoting healthy living. For us, this means better doctors, nicer clinics, and more health-related job opportunities!
Missouri Law Boosts Arts and Culture Funding
A recently enacted Missouri law paves the way for the establishment of a museum and cultural district in downtown Joplin. This legislation enables the city to create a designated area focused on cultural development, potentially leading to new museums, galleries, and performance spaces. Joplin residents can look forward to more fun places to visit and even may help boost local business from tourists.
Missouri Invests Millions to Address Teacher Shortage
Great news—the U.S. Department of Education is giving $4.3 million to the Southwest Center for Educational Excellence in Webb City. This money will help people switch careers to become teachers, which means more educators for our kids.
