Joplin 2011 Tornado Documentary Coming to Netflix 🌪️ 

Netflix has unveiled a preview for its upcoming documentary, “The Twister: Caught in the Storm,” which features firsthand footage from the devastating 2011 Joplin tornado. The film aims to provide an in-depth look at the event and its impact on the community. It’s a stark reminder that while Joplin’s weather can be unpredictable, our resilience is rock solid. New Dover Outdoor Recreation Area 🚲️ 

Joplin is set to pedal into the future with a groundbreaking ceremony for the Dover Outdoor Recreation Area (DORA) on February 24th at 4:00 PM. This initiative aims to promote outdoor activities, featuring a 95-ace biking-focused park with a bicycle single track, BMX pump track, children’s bicycle playground and skills courses with bridges and other obstacles. The public is invited to attend the event at 2302 N Lone Elm Road.

SEK Chicken Tour 🍗 

A new tourism experience is set to take visitors on a flavorful journey through Southeast Kansas’ rich culinary history. And when we say “rich culinary history”, we mean “the best fried chicken this side of the Mississippi.” The Freedom and Friend Chicken Trail guides visitors to renowned fried chicken restaurants from Galena to Emporia, KS. Theatre Talk

On Saturday, February 22nd, the Dallas String Quartet (DSQ) takes the stage at the Cornell Complex’s Beshore Performance Hall. Dubbed “Bach meets Bon Jovi,” this group blends classical and pop, mixing traditional and electric strings with a full band.
