Joplin Health Department Makes Restaurant Inspections Viewable Online 📋️

Has someone ever told you, “You’d never eat a hot dog again if you knew how they were made”? I, for one, choose ignorance. But if you’re one of those people who has to know all that sort of information, you’ll like this. Anyone may now look up restaurant food inspection reports for Joplin establishments through an online portal provided by the Joplin Health Department. This is all in an effort to making this information public and more easily accessible. Reports can be viewed for all routine health inspections of food establishments.

City Council Meeting

The City Council of the City of Joplin will hold a work session beginning at 5:45 PM on Monday, March 10th in the 5th Floor Council Chambers, 602 S. Main Street to discuss the topics below:

  • Update from Proposition Action Committee

  • Follow up on Council Retreat

  • Community Revitalization/Declining Neighborhoods

  • CIST Update/Parks Update

This meeting can be viewed via livestream here.

Dr. David Pyle Selected as New Carl Junction Superintendent ✏️

Carl Junction welcomes Dr. David Pyle as the new superintendent. He is expected to begin his new role on July 1st, following the retirement of Dr. Phil Cook. David Pyle has been at the school since 2002, and has most recently served as High School Principal.

My greatest excitement about becoming the next superintendent of Carl Junction Schools is the opportunity to continue working alongside the best instructional and support staff anywhere. The greatest strength of our school and community is the people. Our staff is committed to the academic development of our students each day. I am honored to have the opportunity to continue leading and servicing with them in my new role next year.

Liberty Utilities Faces the Music at Joplin Town Hall 🎤

On March 7th, Liberty Utilities hosted a town hall meeting in Joplin to address customer concerns about recent rate hikes and service issues. Residents voiced frustrations over increased bills and perceived lack of transparency. Liberty representatives acknowledged the feedback and committed to improving communication and service reliability.

The Missouri Public Service Commission is currently investigating Liberty’s practices, and they’re expected to release a progress report late next month. Until then, Liberty officials say they will continue to hold public meetings to help meet the needs of customers.
