15th Annual Get Busy Livin’ 5K & Kids Fest Returns 🏃‍♂️ 

The Dylan Meier Get Busy Livin’ Foundation will host its 15th Annual 5K Run, Friendship Walk & Kids Fest on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Hutchinson Field in Pittsburg. The event kicks off at 9:00 a.m., and everyone is invited to join a morning of fitness, family fun, and community recognition.

🎈 The PHS Get Busy Livin’ Club will lead the Kids Fest, featuring a fun zone, obstacle course, and trick shot station for families to enjoy.

🏅 This year’s honorary starter is Sherri Stephens, known for her work with the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas and years of support for youth and volunteer initiatives.

🎓 The foundation will award scholarships to 10 high school seniors from Crawford County and present two athletic honors:

Civic Updates

Spire Gas Seeking Gas Rate Increase 💰️ 

Spire Utilities is planning to request a 15% rate increase—about $14 more per month for the average customer—pending approval by the Missouri Public Service Commission. The change could take effect as early as this fall.

The increase would help fund upgrades to Spire’s infrastructure. To gather public feedback, Spire has scheduled several hearings, including one in Joplin on June 5 at MSSU’s Corley Auditorium at 6 PM.
