Good Morning, Joplin. Today is both National Picnic Day and Talk Like Shakespeare Day — so if the weather be fair, gather thy lunch and venture forth to dine under the open sky. A midday break with pie and rye doth surely satisfy.

In today’s JOMO Jive:

  • Downtown Lofts Tour Returns May 10

  • Coda Concert House Hosts Two Blues Legends in May

  • MSSU’s “Southern Showcase, Onstage!”

Also, we goofed on Monday. We like to own our mistakes right here at the top of the newsletter. We hyped up La Boussole’s 3rd anniversary and offered to take a peek at their virtual tour—only the link didn’t show up. So please check out La Boussole’s breathtaking facility by clicking the link below! Then maybe just schedule that free consultation…

Let’s get to it.

P.S. If you find something useful in today’s Jive, please share it with someone who would trade their left shoe for free Downtown Loft Tour tickets.

SPONSORED BY ARVEST BANK - MILLION MEALS

The Salvation Army of Pittsburg plays a critical role in addressing food insecurity in southeast Kansas — offering meals, support, and hope to families facing tough times. They’re one of 11 local food partners we’re highlighting through Arvest’s Million Meals campaign.

Food insecurity affects more than 10% of Kansas households — that’s 1 in 10 families struggling to put food on the table. But just $1 can provide up to 5 meals.

Donate online, in the Arvest Go app, by phone, or at any branch.

Let’s fight hunger together — one meal, one family, one community at a time.

Coda Concert House Hosts Two Blues Legends in May—Then Pauses for Summer 🎸

Coda Concert House may not have a June (or possibly July) lineup—but they’re going out swinging this May with two powerhouse blues shows featuring full bands and internationally acclaimed artists. If you’ve never seen a show at Coda, now’s your chance to get hooked before their summer break.

Coda isn't just a venue—it's a labor of love, powered by the community and designed to give world-class musicians a home in Joplin. Don’t miss your chance to experience it before summer break hits.

🎶 Saturday, May 3 — Chris Cain Band

Straight from the Alligator Records roster, Chris Cain brings his full 4-piece band to Joplin in support of his new release, Good Intentions Gone Bad—a soulful, Memphis-style blues album packed with fire. Cain’s blend of deep vocals and jazz-influenced guitar licks has earned praise from the biggest names in the business:

My favorite blues player on the scene today... with the voice of B.B. King and the chops of Albert King.
